Brandy is now at 108 pounds. Her system has finally settled down and allowed her to grow. Now comes the challenge of socializing her. She is doing pretty good most of the time. PetSmart is where we go and she does ok. When spring comes I will be taking her to the dog park for the first time. She loves to run, so she should love the dog park.

I had the same experience this year. Thought this breeder was a respectable member of the Great Dane Community. In December, after 9 days of daily trips to the vet for subQ fluids, our pup is finally better. I am in the KC area and we bought our pup from a breeder near Garden city, Mo. Lesson learned. We love him but he will never be the outstanding specimen we had hoped for.

Brandy has finally topped 100 pounds. It has been hard for her to put weight on due to the parvo and her system getting stripped. Her appetite is not always what it should be either, but I have started combining foods to enhance her eating habits. She is growing and is almost up to my hip where her parents were when we seen them. She is beautiful and has kept the dark brindle that she had as a puppy. Brnady Kay and Chloe Bell are great companions to my husband, to me, and to each other. Sometimes I think they can read my mind.

I'm so glad you told your story so people are aware of the horrible problems with getting a pup from a backyard breeder. I'm so glad your story had a happy ending!

like you mentioned, with Dane especially, it is important to have a great vet that knows the breed and if they dont have an emergency number don't be shy and ask for a cell number, God forbid you need help asap for bloat, you'll have a way to get ahold of them 24/7.
