Mason

by Grace
(Abilene, Texas)

My best friend rescued him from a neglectful home where he was starved almost to the point of death. He had bleeding pressure points on his hips and shoulders and a horrible infected wound on his tail as well as heart worms and covered in fleas and ticks. He was in a backyard with no soft place to lay and was starved for attention as well as food. He was a sad sight and it was criminal the way he had been neglected. I met Mason at her house a couple of weeks after she took him in and immediately fell in love with his soft kind eyes and laid back personality. Within seconds of meeting him, he did the typical Dane lean up against me and looked up at me with those eyes as if he wanted me to love him forever. I told her if she ever wanted to find him a new home to let me know. I sadly said goodbye to him that day but could not stop thinking about the way he looked at me. I guess she saw the connection with us too because a couple of weeks later she called me and asked if I was still interested in taking him. I told her YES, I would figure out a way to convince my husband to let me have him!!!! I picked him up a week later and he has been my best friend ever since. He now has a wonderful life with his own papasan in the house, and we make weekly trips to the pet store where he gets to pick out his own toy. Yes, he gets at least one new toy every week, lol.. My husband loves him too, he is a perfect addition to our family and will have the best of everything till he crosses the bridge to doggy heaven someday. He just turned 6 years old in August of 2010 and I hope to have many years with him. He is hear tworm free now, and living the good life with us. We go on walks everyday and he is in training classes. Our next class will be a Click A Trick class and we are looking forward to it. He is absolutely the best dog I have ever known and is permanently attached to my hip. Mason is my best friend, I have had him for just over 2 months now as of posting this page.
